This unit permits a crew member to order any meal in the replicatorÕs 
memory, which is then materialized in the phase transition chamber. Use of 
the replicator for meal preparation allows a virtually unlimited cuisine for the 
crew, while minimizing storage and mass requirements for foodstuffs.  Æ
