This wall unit (like the warp propulsion systems status repeater on 
the opposite wall) was a ÒplugÓ that was used in main engineering to 
conceal the fact that much of the set was actually the large curved corridor.  
In fact, during both ÒEncounter at FarpointÓ (TNG) and ÒThe Naked NowÓ 
(TNG), these plugs were not present, and main engineering therefore 
connected directly into a curved corridor.  Æ
